Years ago a young woman asked, “Where am I to do my work? Tucson? D.F.? The Bay area? Santa? The answer became clear. You are your own Teocalli, or house of God (Creator), to acknowledge in order to do your world’s work wherever you are. Artists have the opportunity to express from their Teocalli and invite and welcome the viewer to meet and engage somewhere in the periphery of surrounding space and intention. Manifestations of evolved processes, messages, stories, or abstractions from the specific and the multitudes of influences find themselves being put forth in the creative creation process. While participating in a collective event, I experienced what I referred to as an "arco iris limpia" (rainbow cleansing)! It is such that at times , it is the intention as artist to offer a similar representation of the experience to the viewer. |
